As we were writing the last Post we had a friend call us who gave us a great suggestion. His suggestion was that since the QR Codes make it easy access to websites why don’t we put some of our most popular codes up so that we have quick and easy access to those areas. That thought never crossed our minds. We had made up several of the codes but we were going to use them for our mailings and engrave some on labels and such to put on the back of our products to make it easy for our customer referrals. So his suggestion was to put the QR codes on our blog for easy access to those areas. So in response to his suggestion here are a few of those codes and what they go to. We appreciate the suggestions as many times we overlook ideas that would not only help us but also help our customers. So thank you for the suggestion.

Well, there are just a few to try. We still have tons of these to make and are not even close to having all of our items placed in QR codes, but we will certainly be working on it. Like I mentioned in the previous post. These codes are super! They make going to a website a breeze. Hope you find them useful.
Just a quick note: If you have a particular item that you would want us to make a QR code, please let us know. We have many customers that use us frequently and to have a QR code for as many times accessed product they order, might be very helpful to you. So please don’t hesitate to let us know. I find it amazing how technology has come along to introduce so many neat things. The latest I have been made aware of is the QR codes. They have been around for some time now but really had no idea as to what they were used for, at least until now. With the use of the smart phones and Ipads, Ipods and Android Tablets it has really made searching the web or entering the web addresses simple. Just download a free QR code reader App and you are just about there with the exception of just scanning the QR Codes. To show you how this works here is a QR code of our website. The neat part is you can print the QR code if you wish or just scan it on screen and it takes you there. We have since found the codes on mailings, in magazines, on the back windows of cars and even on billboards. What a neat tool and great time saver. Hope you find it as useful as we did.
Time is running out but at Laser Graphics there is still time to get that special gift. We make every effort to get the orders out the same day or the next. Larger orders may take a day longer but, so far we have kept up well with the orders. Badges still continue to be our number one seller, but Gravel Plaques and Pilsners have really been moving. Just a little information for you. We get asked all the time if our laser can engrave in colors. Well in most cases the answer is no it can not. I say in most cases because on some materials like some forms of Ceramic the color of the material will change with the heat of the laser. The heat of the laser can reach temperatures of 12,000 degrees. Sounds extremely hot but in most cases the material can hardly tell it as the laser moves so fast. As a matter of fact the laser can cut paper and cloth material and not even burn it. That is because the laser moves so fast that it only burns a extremely fine line that is not noticable by the eye. So consequently we are able to engrave certain metal products and it will change the color of it. This is mainly on heat sensitive items that were designed for that very purpose. In most cases the laser is used a a cutting device and it removes material. Items like Glass, wood, acrylics and many others are items were material is burnt out. In the case of glass the laser is so hot that is make the surface of the glass kind of do a mini mini explosion (not noticeable with the eye) that removes the tiny fragment of glass to achieve the beautiful effects it has. This is unlike rotary engraving where a diamond bit actually routs out the material. I most cases that is why it is difficult for most rotary devices to give the detail that Laser Engraving can do. Items like our badges are able to have different colors either by removing the top layer of Acrylic to reveal what lies under it. I other cases we have to mask our product and then do we we refer to as a color fill. This of course takes more time and more materials but in many cases it can’t be avoided.
